Elder Roy Edward Harrison, 88, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Don Hazen and Elder Walter Todd officiating. Interment will be at Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Wayne Sirmons, Walt Landrum, Joey Butler, Wally Landrum, B. J. Rhyner, and James Butler serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the family home, 1111 Virginia Place, Bainbridge, GA 39819. Mr. Harrison was born February 4, 1924 near Cairo, GA, the son of Edward Harold Harrison and Nancy Maxwell Harrison. He was the valedictorian of Whigham High School, Class of 1942, and served in the United States Army during WWII in Japan. He was a lineman for Georgia Power Company for 38 years and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a member of Little River Primitive Baptist Church and was ordained into the ministry on October 6, 1962. He was the current pastor of Little River Primitive Baptist Church, Old Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church, and Boston Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Thelma Hiers Harrison of Bainbridge, GA; his children, Jackie Rhyner and her husband, Buck, of Bainbridge, GA, Kenny Harrison and his wife, Ginger, of Climax, GA, Wendell Harrison and his wife, Jenifer, of Hesperia, CA, Gayle Landrum and her husband, Walter, of Bainbridge, GA, Karol Butler and her husband, Joe, of Bainbridge, GA, Paula Parker of Dallas, GA, and Keith Harrison of Dallas, TX; his sisters, Lillie Mae Dean of Mt. Pleasant, FL and Eunice Thomas of Moultrie, GA; his sister-in-law, Doris Harrison of Thomasville, GA; his twelve grandchildren; and his thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Harrison.
