Eldon Heard

Funeral services for Eldon Edward Heard age 69, will be held Thursday at 12:00 noon at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville. Rev. Stephen Sanderson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A second service will be held Saturday May 27th at 3:00 pm at the Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge GA with Rev. Keith Smith officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Brinson, GA with Jason Tabb, Chad Tabb, Wade Heard, Josh Heard, Ethan Heard and Cody Heard serving as active pallbearers. Eldon was born in Bainbridge, GA a son of the late Willis L. & Emma Jean Horn Heard. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Air force from 1966 - 1970. He retired from Carolina Industrial Service of Sumter, S.C. Eldon enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed working and serving the Lord at Calvary Baptist Church in Bishopville and was a 1966 graduate of Bainbridge High School.Survivors are his children, James (Amy) Heard, Lexington, KY, Stacey (Beth) Heard, Roanoke, AL, Brian Heard, Little River, N.C.; one sister , Angela (Russ) Tabb, Leary, GA; one brother, Laythern (Regina) Heard, Bainbridge, GA; grandchildren, Andrew Stacey, Eleanor, Audrey, Ethan and Cody Heard, Hailey, Hannah and Chris Sears, Julie and Macy Goodman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Ann Gordon Heard, one son, Robert (Robbie) Earl Gordon, Daughter, Donna Kay Gordon Goodman, one niece, Candy Michelle Tabb and several nephews. The family would like to give a special Thank You to his Caregivers, Jan, Clarence, Mike, Wendy and Kayla and also to the staff of Hospice Care of South Carolina.Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605The Class of 1966 will serve as Honorary Pallbearers at the services in Bainbridge, GA.
