Eleanor Jean Dauphin was born September 5, 1938 in Sampson, AL, the daughter of Seabourn and Ruthie Pearl Simmons Dauphin. She married Billy Joe Hodges and they made Bainbridge their home in the early 60s. Eleanor retired from the City of Bainbridge as an animal control officer. She attended Connection Church. Eleanor was a people person who loved the outdoors. She would talk to a fence post if it would listen, so it comes as no surprise that she made friends easily. Everyone who visited the Senior Center knew Eleanor by name. Children loved her too, probably because she was always good for ice cream and Dr. Pepper. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grands were the source of her bragging rights. Survivors include her children, Billy Monroe Hodges of Bainbridge, GA, Mary Jean & Wendell Parrish of Thomasville, GA, and Janice Diane Turner of Donalsonville, GA; her sister, Mary Cook of Shelby, NC; her grandchildren, Stacey & Julie, Tracey & Jennifer, Wendy & Jake, and Brandy & Terry; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter, Brayden, Nicholas, Angel, Abby, Mason, Jordan, and Dylan. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Hodges; and her siblings, James H. Dauphin, Theresa Henderson, and Foye Spears.
