Funeral Services for Ms. Mary Ellen Strain, 84, of Bainbridge, GA will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lillian Mickel officiating. Interment will follow in Oak City Cemetery with Joshua Tresca, Alfonza Cooper, and Jimmy Slocumb serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Friday, June 5, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Cox-Ware Funeral Home. Miss Strain was born June 4, 1924 in Bainbridge, GA to the now late John G. and Nettie Martin Strain. She lived most of her life in Decatur County until illness caused her to move to Hollywood, FL. She was a receptionist and a member of the First Baptist Church. Miss Strain passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Hammond House in Hollywood, FL. She is survived by one sister in law, Florence Strain; nieces, Charleen Strain and Sherrell Tresca; nephew, David R. Carter; great niece and nephew, Karen Hernandez and Joshua Tresca, and great-great niece and nephew Isabella and Sebastian Hernandez, all of North Lauderdale, FL. Miss Strain was preceded in death by her parent and three brothers, John David, Charles Houston, and Walter Earl Strain.
