Ernest Chason

Ernest "Tub" Chason, 61, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008 at his residence. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jeff Stapleton officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Wayne Strickland, Leonard Burke, Jeremy McLendon, Terry Dowden, Robert Taylor and Bo Strickland serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 30, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Memorial donations may be made to Wiregrass Hospice 432 E. Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819. Mr. Chason was born June 7, 1947 in Quincy, FL, the son of Boyd "Goat" Chason and Irene Rudd Chason. He was a chief engineer at MacTavish Furniture Industries in Quincy, FL and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Chason was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. Chason. Survivors include three sons, Mark Chason and his wife Rene of Bainbridge, GA, Wesley Shane Chason and his wife Cindy of Crawfordville, FL and Tony Bryan and his wife Areli of Tuscaloosa, AL; his daughter, Dena Starling and her husband Luke of Crawfordville, FL; his brother, Ayce Chason of Quincy, FL; his sister, Iris Moore of Tallahassee, FL; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his dogs, Skeeter and Elwood.
