Esther Jones

Esther H. Jones, 84, of Climax, GA, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall officiating.  Interment will follow at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Jerry Jones, Bill Jones, Anthony Jones, Chester Brewer, Kyle Guderian, Cathy Brewer, Randall Jones, Sammy Perkins and Donald Dalton serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Esther Merle Harrell was born January 21, 1934 in Whigham, GA, the daughter of Charlie and Mable Moore Harrell. She was a graduate of Whigham High School and attended Berry College. Esther married Amos Jones and they made their home in Climax. She was a member of Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church and retired from Decatur County Schools as a bus driver. Esther always put family first. She spent her days raising her eight children and being a mother figure for the children riding her bus. She loved to cook, can and preserve fruits and vegetables especially if they were grown in her garden. Esther never met a cat she didn't like and fed every stray that wandered near her home. Flowers, especially the spring blooms, brought joy to her heart. Survivors include her children, Dennis Jones and his wife, Carla, of Climax & Panama City, FL, Ricky Jones of Climax, Dollye Jones Stroup and her husband, Richard, of Donalsonville, Peggy Jones Guderian and her husband, Lance, of Hamilton, GA, Leonard Jones of Wrightsville, GA, Derrick Jones and his wife, Debbie, of Climax, Lisa Jones and her wife, Kristi, of Tallahassee, and Bonnie Jones of Maine; her grandchildren, Adam, Brandy, Anthony, Bill, Chester, Seth, Cathy, Kelly, Kyle and Jessie; and her great-grandchildren, Brantley, Grace, Braxton, Larwen, Holland, WillaKate, Kyler, Charlie, Emily, Tzaviyah, Shamira, Jaden, Celeste, Avram, Eliyahs and Owen. In addition her to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Amos Jones; and her siblings, Thorald Harrell, Gene Harrell, Bronwood Harrell, Bill Harrell, Winfred Richter, Iris Harper, Dorothy Addison, Clinton Harrell, and Edsel Harrell.
