Eugena (Gina) Lyons

Writing my own obituary.
I was born to Mary Carolyn Hammond Vickers and Willie Eugene (Sonny) Vickers on August 11, 1965, in San Diego, California. I was born into the military and continued to serve until 1988. I have lived in many places—California, Georgia, and Alaska, mostly—and I eventually settled in Bainbridge, Georgia, to raise my children. I always wanted to be where my immediate family lived, including my parents and my brothers, Samuel Jay Vickers and Rion Edward Vickers. Wherever they were, that was home.

I was beyond blessed with my two children, Gina Nicole Lyons and Luke Lyons. They have made my life complete. I was greatly blessed again with my daughter-in-law, Miranda Renee Rathel Lyons, and the two beautiful, incredible boys she gave us: Luke Zachary Lyons Jr. and Brantley Cole Lyons. And my daughter-in-law, Miranda Sadler Lyons, with her three beautiful babies, Hudsen, Hazel, and Ava Ulm—thank you for loving my babies as much, and even more, than I ever could. How blessed can one person be?

To my forever companion, John Lyon - thank you for looking out for me for the last 20 some years. It has been a blessing to know you were always there.

To my special Zachary - you are an incredible human being and my person, always.

To my Brant Brant (Scubs)—you always made me smile and reminded me that the world is a better place with you in it. You, too, are always my person.

This life hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it.

To my special, special friends who have walked this journey with me—Tonya Griffin and Bridget Whittaker - you were always there. Always. You are incredible humans and I love you more than you could ever know. Please take care of my babies for me and let them know I’ll be watching—if I can. ♥️

Services for Gina will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, 11:00 am, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. Matt Hendricks will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am.
