Eunice Dodson

Eunice Sasser Dodson, 90, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Black Jack Baptist Church with Pastor Bill McCamon and Dr. Joe Beauchamp officiating. Interment will follow at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery with Jody Dodson, Garrett Dodson, Dustin Dodson, Michael Dodson, Michael Dodson, Jr., Jamie Wynn, Peyton Dodson, Brian Kilgore, Matt Calderon, and Dominic Bamford serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mrs. Dodson was born March 24,1923 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Joseph Melvin Sasser and Edith Watson Sasser. She worked with the U.S. Civil Service in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She worked at Bainbridge State Hospital then retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, United Daughters of the Confederacy, V. F. W. Auxiliary, YMCA, and Black Jack Baptist Church. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, traveling, genealogy, reading, crossword puzzles, and the beach. Her favorite color was purple and she will be remembered as being very generous. Survivors include her sons, Joe Dodson of Bainbridge, GA, Phillip Dodson of Port St. Joe, FL, Earl Dodson of Glen Allen, VA and Gary Dodson and his wife, Cindy, of Bainbridge, GA; her brother, Watson Sasser and his wife, Sara, of Bainbridge GA; her sister, Agnes Harrell of Bainbridge, GA; her brother-in-law, Hubert Dodson and his wife, Juanita, of Bainbridge, GA; her grandchildren, Michael Dodson, Jan Dodson, Jody Dodson, Suzanne D. Kilgore, Melissa D. Wynn, Garrett Dodson, Dustin Dodson, Erin Kay D. Bamford; Candi D. Calderon, and Heather D. Prather ; her 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Howard Dodson; her daughter, Faye Dodson; her daughter-in-law, Margaret Dodson; her brother, Emory "Pete" Sasser; and her sisters, Elah Moran and Maxie Helen Lillethun.
