Eunice Knight

Eunice Edna Knight, PhD, 75, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at her residence. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Bainbridge with the Very Reverend James H. Clendinen officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, GA. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at St. John's Parish Hall. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Dr. Knight was born June 17, 1932 in Thomasville, GA, the daughter of Guy Lester Knight and Wortie Dare Hardison Knight. She was a beloved charter professor emeritus at Bainbridge College from 1974 to 1992. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State College for Women in 1954, and her Masters of Arts (1960) and Doctor of Philosophy (1973) from Florida State University. She received two educational grants to Oxford, England and Cordova, Spain, and taught English in Jacksonville and Ft. Myers, FL in 1973-74. In 1974 she was a Charter Professor in English and Humanities for Bainbridge College where she taught English, Spanish, and Humanities. She was a Fullbright Scholar, in the Friendship Force Exchange (Germany), a founding member of Bainbridge Little Theatre, and a Spanish volunteer/translator for Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Owen Knight of Thomasville and John Raymond Knight of Sandy Springs. Survivors include her brother, Henry David Knight of Bainbridge, GA; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Adams Knight of Sandy Springs, GA and Anice Thompson Knight of Thomasville, GA; three nieces, Alice Elizabeth Knight of Sandy Springs, GA, Laura Lynn Knight of Athens, GA, and Jennifer Ann Knight and husband Earl Boyd of Marietta, GA; a nephew, Don Hardison and wife of Tucker, GA.
