Evans Barber

Evans O. Barber, 85, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2007 at his residence in Bainbridge, GA. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Willis and Rev. Stanley Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Stephen Barber, Brad Barber, Bobby H. Barber, Jr., Randy Hill, Bruce Barber, Russell Barber, and Tony Barber serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Barber was born June 13, 1922 in Decatur County, GA to the late Bennett Franklin Barber and Vada Nichols Barber. He was a retired farmer and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Braswell Barber, a brother, Leonard Barber and three sisters, Nell B. Smith, Jane B. Spooner, and Adel B. Whiddon. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Barber of Atlanta, GA and Bobby H. Barber of Bainbridge, GA; five grandchildren, Brad Barber, Bobby H. Barber, Jr., Stephanie Barber, Stephen Barber, and Salinda Barber; and twelve great-grandchildren, Maci Barber, Hudson Barber, Ashley Kate Barber, Stokes Moore, Parker Boyd, Summer Boyd, Wiley Barber, Will Barber, George Barber, Evan Tully, Savannah Barber, and Danyaelle Engrish; two brothers, Nelson Barber of Climax, GA, and William L. Barber of Bainbridge, GA; four sisters, Mildred B. Sapp, Sarah B. Bellflower, Irene B. Spooner, and Juanita B. Talbert all of Bainbridge, GA.
