Mrs. Evelyn W. Hamilton, 83, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Paul Medley officiating. A private interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Wendell Nix, Winston Brock, Palmer Rich, Charles Tyson, Wendell Blair Nix, Carroll Harmon and Ralph Smith serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at the church. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 155, Bainbridge, GA 39818. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Fitzgerald, GA on August 19, 1924 to the now late William Watkins and Inez Dorminy Watkins. She married Curtis L. Hamilton on October 3, 1954. Mrs. Hamilton was a homemaker who volunteered for the American Red Cross Grey Ladies and the American Cancer Society. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served as secretary for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who touched the lives of so many others with her positive attitude and kind spirit. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Watkins. Survivors include her husband, Curtis L. Hamilton of Bainbridge, GA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig A. and Lynn B. Hamilton of Lewisville, NC and Scott L. and Pam D. Hamilton of Duluth, GA; two brothers, Karl Watkins and Julian Watkins, both of Manchester, GA; one sister, Emily Barnes of Melbourne, FL; and six grandsons, Eric, Curt, Luke, Pierce, Nathan and Evan.
