Florence Bishop

Mrs. Florence Weathersby Bishop passed away on August 15, 2022. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Mrs. Florence Bishop was born May 25, 1931, in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of William Irvin Weathersby and Jennie Elizabeth Dodson Weathersby. She was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School, Class of 1947. Her first job was as a telephone operator. She continued working for telephone companies around the world as she traveled with her Air Force husband. After 22 years with the military, she moved back to Georgia to live the remainder of her life, retiring as an accounting clerk for Bainbridge State Hospital. Mrs. Bishop was an active member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville, GA where she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Christie Ellis (Tim) of Ravenel, SC; her son-in-law, Phil Zinger of Midway, FL; her sister, Sybil Isler of Bainbridge, GA; her grandchildren, Shannon Rabon (Tammy), Jamie Rabon, Susan Kentoff (Eric), and Rebecca Lott (Jared); her great-grandchildren, Keighan Drew Haines, Robert Traylor, Jr., Alexis Lott, Kaylee Lott, Laken Lott, and Lucy Kentoff. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Bishop; her daughter, Nan Bishop Zinger; her brother, Robert Weathersby; and sisters, Janet Hernandez, Yvonne Henderson, and Geneva Josey.
