Frances Powell

Frances Gail Powell, age 85, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Powell will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2025, 11:00 am, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. The Rev. Chad Cooper will be officiating. An interment will follow in West Bainbridge Cemetery. Lance Powell, Ryan Powell, Ryan Weathersby, Kevin Clees, Tyler Hampton, and Shannon Brock will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends before the service, beginning at 10:00 am.

Frances Gail Knight Powell was born December 12, 1940, in Bainbridge, Georgia to Marcus M. Knight and Frances Butler Knight. She has lived in Bainbridge all her life, graduating from high school, marrying her husband, Carl Raymond Powell, and raising her boys. She worked some during this time at Dickie's and Kmart but was mostly a devoted homemaker. She was an excellent cook and would gladly plate up some of her outstanding chicken and dressing, or maybe some macaroni and cheese, or a chunk of red velvet cake. A long-time member of West Bainbridge Baptist Church, she served in many areas over the years. She loved being a part of, and faithfully serving in, the choir until her health forced her to stop. Gail gave freely of herself to her church and family. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Frances Gail Powell is survived by her children, Greg Powell (Diane) and Ricky Powell (Dawn); grandchildren, Lance Powell (Niki), Ryan Powell (Kelly), Bethany Clees (Kevin), Emily Hampton (Tyler) Jennifer Harrell (Bobby), Michael Stephens and Chasity Pope; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Jerry Knight, and grandson Dalton Harrell.
