Frances W. Ward, 86, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Bainbridge Healthcare. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Austin L. Phillips and Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Jarrett, Jonathan Gwinn, Mike Moran, Len Liggin, Jody Grollman, and Joe Putnal. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. (prior to the funeral service) on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home. Frances was born January 4, 1924 in Monticello, FL, the daughter of Fred Harvey Ward and Sara Johnson Ward. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of WMU, the Saints Alive Choir, and the Fronnie McQuaig Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Southwest Georgia Hemerocallis Society, D.A.R., U.D.C., a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, and was Past President of the Bainbridge Pilot Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Ward. Survivors include her daughters, Fran Bird and her husband Graham of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Linda Maynard and her husband Mike of Mouth of Wilson, VA; her brothers, Fred Ward, Jr. of Albany, GA, and Charles Ward of Donalsonville, GA; her sisters, Sara L. Duce of Austin, TX, Jessie Parker of Springhill, TN, and Carolyn Phillips of Bainbridge, GA; five grandchildren, Ashley Bird, Allison Liggin and her husband Len, Lee Moran and her husband Mike, Michaela Jarrett and her husband Bobby, and Emily Gwinn and her husband Jonathan; and three great-grandchildren, Phoebe Moran, Jack Moran, and Holly Jarrett.
