Gary Cato

Gary Lee Cato, age 68, passed away on July 13, 2024, in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was born January 28, 1956, to the late Earl and Lorene Cato. Gary grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia and was a graduate of Milton High School. He earned an associate degree in Electronics Technology from Bainbridge State College. He worked as an extrusion mechanic at American Fibers and Yarns and as a station manager at Sharber Oil Company. Gary spent his life embracing the joys of family, fishing, reading, and running. He completed many marathons in his lifetime, including the Boston Marathon, as well as many races of other distances. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister Martha McPhail and her husband, Jon.
He is survived by his children, David Cato of Bainbridge, Krystle Cato (Wayne) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Michael Cato (Monika) of Lafayette, LA, and Robert Cato of Thibodaux, LA; his grandchildren, Gabe and Vivienne Cato; his siblings, Earline Sanders (Andy), Roger Cato (Connie), and Carol Eidson (Chuck). A memorial service celebrating Gary's life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to gather and honor his memory.
