Gary Lynn Johnson, 54, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Sylvania Cemetery with Donald Boyett, David Sellars, Dale Murray, Greg Murray, Perry Clements, and Charles Rozier serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 West Water Street, Bainbridge, GA 39817. Mr. Johnson was born October 2, 1956 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Byron Johnson and Myrtle Burton Johnson. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1974, partner of Johnson Bros. Farms, Inc., and attended First Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson enjoyed stock car racing in his youth, enjoyed piloting his own air craft, and was an avid outdoors man who loved riding all-terrain vehicles. Survivors include his wife, Beverly S. Johnson of Bainbridge, GA; two sons, Mark Murphy of Murfreesboro, TN and Darren Murphy and his wife Becky of Knoxville, TN; one daughter, Anissa Cabrera of Bainbridge, GA; his mother, Myrtle B. Johnson of Bainbridge, GA; two brothers, Jimmy Johnson and his wife Susan of Bainbridge, GA and David Johnson and his wife Catherine of Bainbridge, GA; three grandchildren, Lauren Murphy, Ricky Cabrera, and Marissa Cabrera; two nieces, Carah Johnson Whittaker and her husband Brandon of Bainbridge, GA and Abby Johnson of Kissimmee, FL; and one nephew, Sean Johnson and his wife Mandy of Monroe, GA.
