Gary Eugene Scarbrough, Husband, Dad, and Paw Paw, went to be with his Jesus on Thursday, July 1st at his home in Panama City, Florida.Gary was born on the 5th of August, 1953 to James and Mildred Scarbrough in Moultrie, GA. After graduating from Seminole High School in 1973, he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. He then began a fulfilling career as an electrician. Bay Medical Center was the pinnacle of his career and after 20 years, he retired with many coworkers that became his close friends.Gary met and fell in love with Janice Vickers, the love of his life, while stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base. In 1974, they married and went on to have two children, Scotty and Stephanie. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially when it involved preparing a meal to share. He joyously served on numerous international mission trips building churches and schools. He loved building furniture and gifts in his wood shop. Exploring God's beautiful landscape was his favorite, especially when it involved camping and hiking.He fought a strong 14 year battle with multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndrome. We are thankful to all the healthcare providers current and past who supported encouraged and loved him every step of the way.He was preceded in death by his father, James Scarbrough.He is survived by his wife, Janice Vickers Scarbrough, son Scotty (Jenny Wood), and daughter Stephanie (Robert Hogberg), Mom, Mildred Scarbrough, brothers Jimmy (Linda) and Larry Scarbrough, and sister, Kathy (John) Iorio. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Nate, Kennedy, Nick, Mason and Christopher whom were the joy of his life. In addition he is survived by his brother-inlaws and sister- inlaws with whom he shared very close relationships with.He loved fiercely and deeply creating deep friendships with all he met. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. We take comfort in knowing that Gary is now at peace with his Jesus and suffering no more from sickness and cancer.
