Mr. Gene Johnson, age 68, of Lake Seminole (Donalsonville), Georgia, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge. The Rev. David Grubbs will be officiating. The interment will follow in Johnson Family Cemetery near Colquitt, Georgia. Eric Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Stephen Moore, Steve Moore, Wesley Odom, and Frankie Kelly will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Gene Johnson was born March 9, 1944 in Miller County, Georgia, to Henry "Bo" Johnson and Mamie Claude Johnson. He worked as a Road Grader Operator for Grady and Miller Counties for many years. Mr. Johnson was of the Baptist faith. Gene Johnson is survived by his children, Roger E. Johnson of Jonesville, Louisiana, Sherrie J. Odom and husband, Wesley of Rincon, Georgia, and Malissa A. Browning of Colquitt; brothers, Oliver Johnson of Donalsonville, Roy Johnson and wife, Wanda of Bainbridge, Bill M. Johnson of Colquitt, and James Johnson of Bainbridge; one sister, Lois Kelly of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Eric Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Stephen Moore, Morgan Furney, and Mattie Jean Browning; one great-grandchild, Kylee Faith Moore; and ex-wife and friend, Linda L. Johnson of Savannah, Georgia He was preceded in death by wife, Mildred A. Phillips Johnson in 2006, his brother, Jessie Johnson, and his parents, Henry "Bo" and Mamie Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Avenue #100, Albany, Georgia 31701.
