George Cooke

George B. Cooke, 93, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Ivey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Rev. Wayne McDonald will officiate and Orion Lodge # 8 F. & A. M. will provide Masonic Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends Friday, December 11, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Cooke was born November 20, 1916 in Houston County, AL, the son of George Grady Cooke and Essie Hollis Cooke. He was an insurance salesman, a member of First Baptist Church and the Baraca Sunday School Class. Mr. Cooke was a past Worshipful Master with Orion Lodge No. 8 F.&A.M. He was preceded in death by his wife, Milbrea J. Cooke and his son, Jeff Cooke. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Thomas and her husband, Bob of Climax, GA; his sister, Juanita Taylor of Vero Beach, FL; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
