George Herring

George H. Herring, III, M.D., PhD., 52, of Monterey, CA (formerly of Bainbridge, GA), passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 in Monterey. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny Shepard and Rev. Thomas P. Long officiating and will conclude at the chapel. Herring, Jr. and Charlotte Dodson Herring. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1976 and of the Baptist faith. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Psychology, a Doctor of Philosophy, and a Medical Doctorate degree from University of Alabama. Dr. Herring completed his residency and fellowship at Harvard Medical School, McLean Hospital and was board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the National Board of Examination Part III and licensed in California, Massachusetts and Alabama. He most recently worked in private practice at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in California. Survivors include his parents, Charlotte Dodson Herring and George H. Herring, Jr. of Bainbridge, GA; his sister, Melissa H. Stewart and her husband Roger of Albany, GA; his girlfriend, Tammy Marcuzzo of Monterey, CA; his nephew, Justin Stewart; his great-nephew, Peyton Stewart; several aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
