George Mckay

Mr. George Lewis McKay passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at Memorial Manor. A memorial service will be held 4:00 pm, Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the St. John' s Episcopal Church. There will be a reception for his family and for the St. John's family immediately after this service. George Lewis McKay was born September 30, 1932 in Elmira, New York, to Earnest G. McKay and Ellen Gary McKay. On July 5, 1957, he married Maryellen Woods McKay. Maryellen passed away February 4, 2011, after 53 years of marriage. In 1958, he began working for the State of Florida as a guidance counselor/social worker. He retired in 2000. Mr. McKay was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. George McKay is survived by his son, R. Gary McKay and wife, Joy of West Palm Beach, Florida; 3 grandchildren; nieces, Ellen Morgan of Interlachen, Florida, Sally Gagan of Tampa, Florida, and Ann Mason of Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter,Carolyn Brierley. Donations may be given to St. John's Episcopal Church, 516 E. Broughton Street, Bainbridge, Georgia 39817, and Rector's Discretionary Fund.
