Geraldine Holton Newbern, 77, of Donalsonville, GA, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Archbold Medical Center.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.Mrs . Newbern was born February 9, 1938 in Decatur County, the daughter of Cecil C. Holton and Katie Nix Holton. Geraldine enjoyed cooking, especially baking pies and cakes to share with friends and family. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was active in her Sunday school class.Survivors include her husband of over 57 years, Donald J. Newbern; her sons, Donald Dwayne Newbern and his wife, Ginger, of Edna, TX, and Mickey Smith of Donalsonville; her grandchildren, D.J. Newbern, Adam Newbern, Holton Newbern, and Christopher Smith; a sister, Sue Holton Denman and her husband, Denny, of Lynn Haven, FL; and numerous extended family members and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Holton.
