Gerda Chason

Mrs. Gerda Maria Sommerfeld Chason, age 92, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, at her home in Bainbridge, Georgia. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am., Wednesday, March 6, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Climax, Georgia. Don Williams will officiate. Gerda was born March 29, 1926, in Berlin, Germany. She married Roy Chason. She and Roy had 2 sons, Peter and Clifford. Roy and their sons have all preceded her in death. Gerda was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She started the Humane Society in Bainbridge because of her love for animals. Gerda was a member of P.E.T.A., P.C.R.M., Farm Sanctuary, I.D.A., Greenpeace, Dream Chaser Horse Rescue, Friends of the Earth, as well as, the Bainbridge Humane Society.
