Gregory Byers

Greg Byers, 60, of Brinson, GA, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. The graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Avery Hutto officiating. Greg was born June 12, 1950 in McKeesport, PA. He served in the U.S. Army and had worked with Georgia-Pacific in Cedar Springs, GA since 1978, and was a union representative. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Vickie Byers of Brinson, GA; his daughters, Karen Phillips and her husband, Jay, of Ft. Bragg, NC and Amanda Ward and her husband, Eric, of Attapulgus, GA; his brother, Bob Kingston and his wife, Eileen, of Clarksville, TN; his sister, Paula Marie Shumaker and her husband, Jim, of Greensburg, PA; and his grandchildren, JJ Phillips, Sarah Beth Phillips, and Brayden Ward. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald R. Byers, and his mother, Elizabeth Penn.
