Mr. Guy F. Farmer, Jr., age 64 passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, GA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Bainbridge, GA with Rev. Paul Medley and Dr. Richard Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge, GA with Art Bruce, Brian Cowart,, Tom Conger, Wesley Powell, Jerry Pollock, and Jim Beck serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Farmer was born on August 24, 1942 in Gadsden, AL, the son of Guy Franklin Farmer and Opal Jesse McFry Farmer. He was a class of 1960 graduate from Blackshear High School and later from South Georgia College. He was a Tool and Die Engineer with ITT-Thompson Industries for 27 years and he was currently employed by Bainbridge Machine Shop. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dale Walker Farmer. Survivors include a son, G. Frank Farmer, III of Valdosta, GA; 2 daughters: Shirley F. Closson (Eldridge) of Woodbridge, VA and Dana F. Ward (Bob) of Commerce, GA; 2 brothers: Andrew Farmer of Columbus, GA and Michael Farmer of Kennasaw, GA; and 6 grandchildren: Susannah Closson and Caroline Closson, both of Woodbridge, VA, Hannah Farmer, Sarah Farmer and Elijah Farmer, all of Valdosta, GA and Mason Ward of Commerce, GA.
