Helen Greene Andress, 79, of Iron City, GA, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Bell officiating. A private interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. Mrs. Andress was born December 10, 1929 in Iron City, GA, the daughter of Ernest Joel Greene and Eleanor Lane Greene. She was a retired bookkeeper, a member of Iron City United Methodist Church and a member of Iron City Ladies Club. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Greene, and a sister, Leonora Ingram. Survivors include two daughters, Anne Marie McCarron of Anchorage, AK and Mary Leng of Houston, TX; a brother, Alfred Greene of Iron City, GA; two sisters, Barbara Sawyer of San Antonio, TX and Anne Dorrell of Seminole, FL; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Hazel Lane of Iron City, GA.
