Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mary Helen Maxwell Cumbie, 63, of Climax, GA will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Garnett and Rev. Benny Cumbie officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Kenneth Quigg, Ray Quigg, William Maxwell, David Maxwell, Terry Maxwell, Allen Maxwell, Roger Maxwell, Ronnie Maxwell, Rodney Maxwell, Dewayne Maxwell, and Ricky Maxwell serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be immediately following the service. Mrs. Cumbie was born March 27, 1945 in Grady County, GA to the now late Monroe and Lena Jane Hammett Maxwell and graduated from Climax High School. She married Larry Joe Cumbie September 19, 1964 and lived in Albany for 42 years before moving to Climax three years ago. She worked as a clerk for the City of Albany and also Mitchell EMC. Mrs. Cumbie was a member of Beacon Baptist Church in Albany where she had taught Sunday School, kept the nursery, and was on the hostess committee. She passed away at her residence in Climax, GA Monday, March 2, 2009. Mrs. Cumbie is survived by her husband, Larry Joe Cumbie of Climax, GA; two sons; Shane (Wife Donna) Cumbie of Baconton, GA, and Joey (Wife Sonja) Cumbie of Rome, GA; two sisters; Carolyn Thomas of Climax, GA and Ann Quigg of Thomasville, GA; two brothers; Wayne Maxwell of Attapulgus, GA and Harold Maxwell of the Vada Community; and seven grandchildren; Kaitlyn Cumbie, Maxwell Cumbie, Gracie Cumbie, Jacob Cumbie, Kayla Johnson, Raymond Johnson, and Madison Boring. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers; Clyde, Julian, Zerom, and Gene Maxwell.
