Herbert Jeffords

Herbert L. "Sonny" Jeffords, Jr., 84, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Mosley officiating and will conclude at the church. Interment will be at Oak City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Patrick Reesby, Josh Horton, Ben Horton, Cole Farrington, Cameron Jeffords, Corey Jeffords, Nick Barber, Jonathan Farrington, Jeremy Jeffords-Vermillion, Tom Sipp, and Bill Reynolds. Mr. Jeffords was born February 28, 1927 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Herbert Leon Jeffords and Ruth Miller Jeffords. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and the University of Richmond, Class of 1951, and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Mr. Jeffords served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He founded Jeffords Insurance in 1951 and operated Jeffords Insurance and Realty until his retirement in 1992. Survivors include his wife, Judy Thompson Jeffords of Bainbridge, GA; his daughters, Laura Jeffords Horton of Cochran, GA, Martha Jeffords Reesby and her husband, Pat, of Kingwood, TX, and Winde B. Farrington and her husband, Brent, of Bainbridge, GA; his sons, H. L. "Jeff" Jeffords, III and his wife, Patty, of Odessa, FL and Mike Barber and his wife, Lisa, of Bainbridge, GA; his eighteen grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren.
