Horace B. "Red" Jackson, 89, of Brinson, GA, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Phillips, Pastor David J. Broome, and Rev. Ellis Hardwick officiating. Interment will follow at Brinson Cemetery with Curtis Wacaser, Jimmy Fowler, Gary Frasier, Tommy Powell, Roger Yates, Harvey King, and Jimmy Hornsby serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Jackson was born April 26, 1921 in Brinson, GA, the son of Willie Bethea Jackson and Hester Adele Brown Jackson. He was a graduate of Brinson High School and served in the United States Air Force with the Aviation Engineers during World War II. He was an electrical contractor and founded Jackson Tubing and Conduit. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship, American Legion Post 62, and the Charlie King Garden Club. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Meltz Jackson. Survivors include his wife, Glaphrey Hoff Jackson of Brinson, GA; his brother, Clarence Bethea Jackson and his wife Carolyn of Chapin, SC; his sisters, Jessie Mae Jackson Cox of Warner Robins, GA, and Dorothy Nell Jackson Rainey of Albany, GA; and many nephews and nieces.
