Hugh Fletcher

Hugh M. Fletcher, 87, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at his residence. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny Shepard, Pastor Robert Baggs, and Rev. Stephen L. Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, August 22, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.at Ivey Funeral Home. Mr. Fletcher was born May 16, 1921 in Climax, GA, the son of John Hugh Fletcher and Lilla Jordan Fletcher. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of First United Methodist Church, and a retired production supervisor for Engelhard Corporation. He was an avid sports fan. Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Wall Fletcher; a brother, John R. "Bob" Fletcher; and two sisters, Nan F. Jones and Mary F. Miller. Survivors include his sons, Craig M. Fletcher and his wife Faye, and Alvin J. Fletcher, all of Bainbridge, GA; his daughter, Leah F. Smith of Bainbridge, GA; two grandchildren, Will Fletcher Smith and Stephanie K. Mock; and three great-grandchildren, Ashton Mock, Taylor Mock, and Bo Mock.
