Hyon Barber

Hyon Ju Barber of Bainbridge, Georgia, age 75, passed away July 31, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Services for Mrs. Barber will be held at 5:00 pm, Saturday, August 3, at the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home. Rev. Marty Brock will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 4:00 pm.
Hyon Ju Yuk Barber was born May 26, 1949 to Young Yang Yuk and Young Sue Kim in Busan, South Korea. She grew up there and helped her parents in their candy store. Later she worked in the snack bar on the American military base, Camp Casey. There she met who would become the love of her life, Ronald Barber. They married February 8, 1980 and had a full and wonderful 44 years together. She and Ron were blessed with four girls. Ju was a wonderful mother. She taught the girls how to take care of a home and how to make that home welcoming. Her love language was food. She was a wonderful cook and loved to feed her family and friends. She was strong-willed, feisty, very smart, and full of love. She loved unconditionally. Ju loved her animals, especially her cats, but her heart belonged to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of a kind and never to be forgotten, she will be deeply missed.
Ju Barber is survived by her husband, Ronald Barber; children, Julia Barber (Jennifer Webb), Patricia Barber, Gabriella Lugo (John Lugo-Diaz), and Charlotte Rowe ( Michael Rowe); grandchildren, Robert Wade Umbach, Jr., Coy Ashton Rogers, Aaron Rowe (Liz), Vincent Rowe (Alicia), Miranda Hawkins (Richard), Steven Crowell, Christian Rowe,; and great-grandchildren, Michael Rowe, Carson Rowe, Hazel Rowe, Rose Rowe, Nadya Jones, Jalen Brown, Ronald J. Barber, Kynadee Hawkins, Riley Hawkins, Parker James Fowler, Christian Lugo, and Parker Lugo.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Barber to the Bainbridge- Decatur County Humane Society, 808 Zorn Road, Bainbridge Georgia 39817.
