Inez Barber Smith, 89, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Attapulgus United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Hurley officiating, and will conclude at the church. Interment will be at Greenshade Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service, at Attapulgus United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith was born April 5, 1923 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Darius Robert Barber and Gertrude VanLandingham Barber. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and the University of Georgia. Mrs. Smith was a retired nutrition director for the Decatur County School System and a member of the Attapulgus United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sons, Thomas Edwin Smith, Jr. and his wife, Mary, and Robert Van Smith and his wife, Jo, both of Bainbridge, GA; her daughter, Kay Smith Owens and her husband, John, of Bainbridge, GA; her sister, Mary Barber Cox of Bainbridge, GA; her grandchildren, Rusty Smith, T. Rude, Laura Smith, and Katie Smith; her great-grandchildren, Hunter Rude, Hayden Rude, Sydney Claire Smith, Jackson Smith, Lexie Delbrey, and Bowen Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edwin Smith.
