Isaiah Mejia

Rev. Isaiah Mejia, 59, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Justin Lemons and Rev. Fernando Jiminez officiating. Porfirio Garcia Mejia, Sr. and Petra Villafranco Mejia. He began his ministry in Texas at the age of 14 working with his father, and the local Baptist Association in Seagraves. Later he earned his Masters of Music Ministry at Southwestern Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX and his Masters of Divinity at Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He served as Director of Mission Ministries as well as Evangelism Specialist for the Southern Nevada Baptist Association that was comprised of over 108 churches in and around Las Vegas, NV. Rev. Mejia's goal was that all churches reached out to the communities in their care; reaching out to all no matter their station in life. Rev. Mejia stated, " We're discovering and looking for ways the church can effectively penetrate the community to share the gospel. For people to want what we've got they must see how our relationship with Jesus has changed us." Rev. Mejia also served in many churches over the years in North Carolina, Nevada, Texas, and Florida. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jan Ohlinger Mejia of Bainbridge, GA; his children, Mary Kathryn Mejia of Bainbridge, GA and Jon Mejia and his wife, Katy, of Las Vegas, NV; his mother, Patsy Mejia, of Memphis, TX; his siblings, Louis Mejia, of Bovina, TX, Esther Steelman and her husband, Joe, of Bovina, TX, Dianne Luna and her husband, Carlos, of Clute, TX, Porfirio Mejia, Jr. and his wife, Andi, Sharpsburg, GA, Delilah Lemons and her husband, Rev. Justin Lemons, of Saginaw, TX, Gilda Garner and her husband, Doyle, of Bovina, TX, Adam Mejia, of Bovina, TX, Cindy Lewis, and her husband, Monty, of Huntsville, AL, Daniel Mejia, and his wife, Amy, of Bovina, TX, Naomi Alcock and her husband, Jim, of Houston, TX, and Sandra K. Wilson and her husband, David, of Little Rock AR; his grandsons, Ezra and Everett Mejia; an 28 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Porfirio Garcia.
