Mr. J. D. Dobson, 88, of Iron City, GA, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at Donalsonville Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at Bainbridge Church of God with Pastor Dan Tomberlin and Rev. Perry Lamey officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, GA with his grandsons serving as active pallbearers. Box 447, Iron City, GA 39859. J.D. was born June 24, 1921 in Alpharetta, GA, the son of Daniel Frank Dobson and Lily Mae Cowart Dobson. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a truck driver and retired from Georgia Palm Beach Window Company. He was a member of Bainbridge Church of God, served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 17 years and was a deacon for over 30 years. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Blanche Ingram Dobson of Iron City, GA; two sons, Johnny R. Dobson and his wife Donna of Roswell, GA, and Richard D. Dobson and his wife Darlene of Thomasville, GA; three daughters, Debbie D. Whitaker of Iron City, GA, Jan D. Pope and her husband Daryl of Bainbridge, GA, and Benita D. Stephens of Bainbridge, GA; his sister, Imogene D. Fowler of Buford, GA; his brother, Raymond Dobson of Warner Robins, GA; 8 grandchildren, Michael R. Dobson, Bryan C. Dobson, Stacy R. Whitaker, Terry A. Whitaker, Lisa Dobson Johnson, Timothy F. Dobson, Justin L. Pope, and Joshua Z. Pope; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
