August 4, 1938 — February 10, 2023

James Ronald (Jim) Davis passed away February 10, 2023 at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, Georgia. Jim was born August 4, 1938 to the late William Latell and Mildred Thomason Davis. He is survived by his wife Juniel "Tiny" Davis, his son Matthew Harrell "Matt" Davis, his sister Beverly Dale, and brothers Larry (Sue), Joe (Barbara), Doug (Michelle), Marty (Paulette), Jerry (Debbie), sister-in-law Jackie Rich, and many nieces and nephews. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . A Memorial service was held on March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Grassy Branch Baptist Church in Asheville, North Carolina, with his nephew, Gunn Davis officiating. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, specializing in repairing radar and other equipment. His aptitude with hands-on problem solving and technical expertise served him well in a successful business career with American Photocopy Equipment Company (APECO) as National Service Director, Tom's Foods as Regional Vending Services Manager, and Carmike Cinemas as Vice President of the Technical Division. He was a very kind person and was always in favor of the underdog. Jim played piano and guitar quite well entirely by ear and took up drawing for fun later in life after doing some drafting and designing in his career. Jim was an avid golfer and most weekends could be found on the golf course. He knew how to make acquaintances become "buddies", adding to his already great number of friends. He served many years as the Chairman of the American Cancer Society's Men's Golf Tournament. His love of golf, keen organizational skills, and many friendship connections contributed to the overwhelming nine-year success of this event, known as the "Cadillac Tournament" because Jim insisted on the best for his volunteer players. Through his leadership as Chairman, the American Cancer Society raised significant donations to support a wide variety of American Cancer Society services to patients and programs. A family held graveside service will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on Saturday, April 22, 2023 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend James Scarborough officiating. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. The Davis family has entrusted the arrangements to Ivey Funeral Home, 502 S. Scott Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.
