James Frierson

Mr. James (Jimmy) Gerard Frierson, age 75, of Whigham, Georgia passed away in the early hours of Friday, August 1, 2014. A service will be held for Mr. Frierson at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at El Bethel Baptist Church in Grady County, Georgia. Rev. Douglas Halstead will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Although Mr. Frierson will be buried in Providence Cemetery, the services will conclude at the church. Mr. Frierson was born June 28, 1939, in Grady County, Georgia, to John V. Frierson, Sr. and Allie Mae Barber Frierson. Jimmy served, with pride, in the United States Air Force. For 20 years he worked as a crane operator for Culpepper Construction Company in Tallahassee, Florida. Jimmy drove a Grady County School bus for many years and was a retired farmer. Mr. Frierson lived in Grady County all his life. He attended El Bethel Baptist Church. James (Jimmy) Frierson is survived by his sons, John Darrell Johnson and wife, Lynn of Graceville, Florida and Shane Johnson of Cairo, Georgia; daughters, Brittany Perry of Sarasota, Florida, Peggy Smart and husband, Derrick of Woodville, Florida, and Grace Curles and husband, Chuck of Ochlocknee, Georgia; brother, John V. Frierson, Jr. and wife, Betty of Tallahassee, Florida; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and caregivers, Shelby Ezell Harrison and Leonard Clayton. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Carolyn Frierson Harrison (Ralph) and Miriam Frierson Arnold (Jim). Contributions may be made in Mr. Frierson's memory to Providence Cemetery Fund, 506 Barrineau Road, Whigham, Georgia 39897.
