Mr. James M. Hooks, 82, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007 at New Fountainhead Baptist Church with Rev. Eldon Eckard and Rev. Jimmy Hooks officiating. Interment will follow at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery with Wesley Hooks, Garon Sellars, Bo Logue, Stacy West, James Langston and Philip Ponder, II serving as active pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men of New Fountainhead Baptist Church, Watson Sasser, Stanley Harrell, Adolph Brock, J. E. Bishop, Ben Long, and Jim Stone. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Hooks was born on January 27, 1925 to the late George Washington Hooks and Mary Florence Gause Hooks. He was a retired service technician from Suburban Propane. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of New Fountainhead Baptist Church, VFW Post 4904, and American Legion Post 62. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Hartley Hooks of Bainbridge, GA; two sons, Jimmy Hooks of Bainbridge and Ronald Hooks of Eufaula, AL; two daughters, Deborah H. Morris of Bainbridge, GA and Teresa H. Sellars of Bainbridge, GA; six grandchildren, Chasity Ponder, Dena Langston, Wesley Hooks, Heather West, Ashley Morris, and Garon Sellars; seven great-granchildren, Jacob Wood, Autumn Wood, Erica Wood, Ashlyn Ponder, Philip Ponder, III, Hartley West and James Hooks.
