Mr. James Wiley Mote, age 87, of Cairo, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Grady General Hospital. Services for Mr. Mote will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Our Father's House, in Cairo, Georgia. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Ricky Pearson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 2:30. James Wiley Mote was born July 23, 1928 in Desser, Georgia to Wiley Mote and Lessie Miller Mote. He married Gracie Blankenship. He and his beloved Gracie were married 49 years before she preceded him in death. Mr. Mote was a grove supervisor for the Lykes Pasco Growers. He was a hard worker, with a "green thumb" . He loved to work in his yard and in his garden. James had two beloved companions, his dogs, Petey and Baby Girl. James Wiley Mote is survived by his children, Valerie Kelly and husband, Oscar of Geneva, Alabama, James Wiley Mote, Jr. and wife, Jeanine of Iron City, Georgia, Michael Edward Whitfield and wife, Senora of Clanton, Alabama, Teresa Keith and husband, Rusty of Clanton, Julie Whitfield and husband, Jackie of Cairo, Fay Ferrell and husband, Paul of Zephyrhills, Florida, Ray Whitfield and wife, Mitzi of Whigham, Georgia, Robbie Whitfield and wife, April of Cairo, Janey Mote of Cairo, Buddy Mote and wife, Dixie of Cairo, and Scotty Ludwig of Cairo; granddaughter, Tabitha Whitfield of Cairo and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie; his parents; his son, David Laron Mote; brother, Warren Mote; sisters, Abby Rae Hatton and Katherine Mote.
