Mr. James E. Stabler, 92, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2007 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Roberts and Pastor Jean Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with Ryan Stabler, Garret Stabler, Ben Harrell, Tim Birgenheier, Christopher Birgenheier, and Mike Birgenheier serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Stabler was born June 20, 1915 in Hayneville, AL to the now late James Lemuel Stabler and Belle Luckie Stabler. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II, a retired machinist from Miller Hydro Co., and a member of West Bainbridge United Methodist Church. Mr. Stabler was preceded in death by his wife, Corene Harrell Stabler, and a grandson, Jim Mercer. Survivors include a son, James Lemuel Stabler and wife Lynn of Climax, GA; a daughter, Mary S. Mercer and husband Wayne of Clarkesville, GA; five grandchildren, Kaye Birgenheier, Beth Birgenheier, Michelle Mercer, Ryan Stabler, and Garret Stabler; and 8 great-grandchildren.
