James C. Stewart, 86, of Climax, GA, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Hatchett and Rev. Conard Hatfield officiating. A private interment will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Stewart was born November 24, 1929 in Fowlstown, GA, the son of John Harvey Stewart and Mellie Mae Lambert Stewart. James was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the Climax Community Club. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. James married the love of his life, Pauline Hatfield in 1959. He retired as an airline mechanic in 1993.Being a farmer James naturally wanted to make sure everyone had something to eat which included sharing from the abundance in his garden to helping with Ham & Egg suppers at Cedar Grove Cemetery and the ever famous fish fries. When he wasn't volunteering his time you could find him fishing unless a NASCAR race had the track hot.Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Pauline Stewart; his children, Sandra Rogers and her husband, Gary, Deirdre Chatham and her husband, Greg, and Paula Stewart ; his sisters, Florence Boyett and Annette Lowery; his 7 grandchildren, Rebekah, Sarah, Rachel, Isaac, Camden, Kara, and Cael; and 1 great-grandchild, Hunter and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Estelle Wade, John Henry Stewart, Dot Perry, Harvey Edward Stewart and Edith Harvey.
