James Terry Tate, 67, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, FL. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Harvest Assembly of God Church with Rev. Malcolm Parker and Rev. Paul Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Joe Barber, Morris Nichols, Bryan Hall, Edward Deal, Carroll McLendon, and Jared Long serving as active pallbearers. Mr. Tate was born September 29, 1941 in Noma, FL, the son of J. A. Tate and Agnes Burdeshaw Tate. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School, Class of 1960, was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam war and retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves as a SMSGT. He was a retired agent with Georgia Alcohol, Tobacco, and Tax Unit with 33 years of service. He was a member of Harvest Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Helen Merkison Tate of Bainbridge, GA; his son, Terry Duane Tate and his wife Sundee of Bainbridge, GA; his daughter, Kim T. Newberry and her husband Jack of Iron City, GA; his mother, Agnes Burdeshaw Tate of Bainbridge, GA; two brothers, Randy Tate of Springfield, MO and Michael Tate of Venus, FL; his sister, Carolyn Alday of Bainbridge, GA; and five grandchidren, Laura Leigh Andrews, Kacee Tate, Derry Tate, Lane Newberry, and Kerri Ann Tate.
