James Turknett

James E. "Jim" Turknett, 74, of Thomasville, GA, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim VanLandingham officiating and will conclude at the chapel. Mr. Turknett was born March 17, 1939 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Lester Forest Turknett and Bessie Ruth James Turknett. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School, Class of 1957, and a graduate of Valdosta State University. Mr. Turknett was veteran of the United States Army and worked as assistant manager of The UPS Store in Thomasville, Georgia. He was a member of West Bainbridge Baptist Church. Survivors include his spouse, Susan Newberry of Thomasville, GA; his grandson, Brendan Wyman of Bainbridge, GA; his sister, Peggy Armintrout and Family, of Carmichael, CA; his brothers, Don Turknett and Family of Cochran, GA, and Bobby Turknett and Family of Bainbridge, GA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, James E. "Jay" Turknett; and his daughter, Sandra "Sandy" Turknett Wyman.
