Janice Marie Hammond Smith, 70, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. The graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Oak City Cemetery with Rev. Paul Medley officiating. Jan was born May 19, 1942 in Chillicothe, OH, the daughter of Henry Hammond and Roxie Massie Hammond. She was a public information coordinator for the City of Bainbridge for many years. Survivors include her daughters, Angie Anderson of Bainbridge, GA and Dawn Miller and her husband, Scott, of Shell Point, FL; her brothers, David Hammond, Ed Hammond, and Jerry Hamond, all of Chillicothe, OH; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Welch and her husband, Jim, of Tallahassee, FL; her grandsons, James Ashley Porter and Chase Miller; her great-grandson, James Henry Porter; and her cat, Little Bit. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two husbands, Carl Smith and Ronald Dean Anderson.
