Janie Humphrey

Janie Darsey Humphrey, 92, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at her residence. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen L. Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 24, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mrs. Humphrey was born April 4, 1917 in Grady County, GA, the daughter of Robert Martin Darsey and Cora Pound Darsey. She was a graduate of Norman Park Junior College was a mother and housewife. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the First United Methodist Church and the Homemakers Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Donalson Humphrey. Survivors include one daughter, Helen Mitchell Bartosz of Bainbridge, GA; three sons, Rueben Marion Humphrey, Robert Donalson Humphrey, Jr. and Joel Darsey Humphrey, all of Bainbridge, GA; her brother, John Robert Darsey of Bradenton, FL; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
