Jean Ward

Jean E. Ward, 89, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Interment will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Ward was born February 3, 1927 in Pahokee, FL, the daughter of Alfred Cornelius Earnest and Elizabeth Wynn Earnest. She was a graduate of Pine Hill School, where she was salutatorian of her class. Jean was an employee of Southern Bell for 37 ½ years and married George Edward Ward on August 31, 1947. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she taught the girls Sunday School class for many years. Survivors include her son, George Earnest Ward and his wife, Deborah, of Johns Creek, GA; her grandchildren, George Earnest Ward, Jr. of Atlanta, GA and Lauren Ward of Johns Creek, GA; her sister, Annie Lee Rentz of Bainbridge; a nephew, Tommy Rentz of Bainbridge; and her nieces, Sandra Wilkinson and her husband, Haisten, of Bainbridge, and Gloria Trammell of Albany, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 58 years, George E. Ward.
