Mrs. Jeanette Wood Duke, 88, of Attapulgus, GA, passed away Monday, October 29, 2007 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie, GA. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Attapulgus United Methodist Church with Reverend H. Theo Gee and Pastor Carrie Austin officiating. Interment will follow at Attapulgus Presbyterian Cemetery with Matthew D. Deal, Stanton A. Deal, John Phillips, Jeff Cook, James Earl Spooner, and Billy Brown serving as active pallbearers. Mrs. Duke was born on October 22, 1919 in Brinson, GA, to the now late Dallas Howe Wood and Julia Mae Cook Wood. She was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1936, and was employed with the United States Postal Service. Mrs. Duke was a member of the Attapulgus United Methodist Church, Bainbridge Pilot Club, the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a trustee for Attapulgus Presbyterian Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Duke, her son, Dallas Duke, and her brother, Julian C. Wood. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Amelia D. and Ben Deal of Bristol, GA; one son and daughter-in-law, Julian Mark and Zettie Duke of Fayetteville, NC; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
