Jefferson Franklin Gilbourn, 75, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with Robert Givens, Ryan Matillo, Kole Gilbourn, Bijon Anvar, Jonathan Joiner and Terry Smith serving as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Mr. Gilbourn was born September 29, 1937 in Faceville, GA, the son of David Alexander Gilbourn and Annie Mae Smith Gilbourn. He was a graduate of Attapulgus High School, Class of 1955, and retired from Coastal Lumber Company as a supervisor in 1985. He was of the Baptist faith and loved to fish and hunt. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Quintilla Lewis Gilbourn of Bainbridge, GA; his daughters, Gwen Thrash and her husband, Randy, of Dothan, AL, and Andrea Kay Givens and her husband, Robert, of Bainbridge, GA; his son, Greg Gilbourn and his wife, Milly, of Bainbridge, GA; his grandchildren, Brittany Givens, Taylor Givens, Ryan Matillo, Kole Gilbourn, and Josh Cook; his great-great grandchildren, Marissa Matillo and Rylan Cook; and his brother, Clifford Gilbourn of Marianna, FL. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Whitley, Effie Strickland, Florence Ard, and Pearl Alday; and his brothers, Henry Gilbourn and D. A. Gilbourn. The family wishes to extend a special heartfelt thank you to his longtime doctor, Sidney Cochran, and his devoted nursing aide, Cecilia Rosenbert.
