Jewell Murkerson Johnson, 82, of Climax, GA, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at her residence. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donna Bevels and Rev. James Scarborough officiating. The graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at White Plains Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery near Blakely, GA. Mrs. Johnson was born June 3, 1928 near Damascus, GA, the daughter of Willie Wooten Musgrove and Ila Jewell Lewis Musgrove. She was a seamstress for mills in Blakely, GA, Bainbridge, GA, Donalsonville, GA, and Ashford, AL and was a Quality Control Inspector for Amoco Fabrics, Inc. She was of the Assembly of God faith. Survivors include her sons, Don Murkerson and his wife, Lola, of Donalsonville, GA and Ted Murkerson and his wife, Wanda, of Donalsonville, GA; her daughters, Elizabeth Murkerson Harris and her husband, Bill, of Climax, GA and Lillian E. Smith of Climax, GA; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a husband, Lawson Donelle Murkerson, and a son, Winston Steve Murkerson.
