Jimmie Myrl Smith, 89, of the Sylvania community in Bainbridge, GA, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at her residence. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Sylvania United Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Sue Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Sylvania Cemetery with Dale Mitchell, Phillip Johnson, Thomas Wilkinson, John Canetta, Russell Smith and Jimmy Elkins serving as active pallbearers. Mrs. Smith was born November 25, 1918 in Jackson County, FL, the daughter of Thomas Wiley Mitchell and Emma Byrd Mitchell. She was a homemaker and a member of Sylvania United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two sons, Jesse Woodrow Smith and Kenneth Cloud, four sisters, Edna Smith, Emma Lee Wymer, Jeanette Hatcher and Corine Powell and three brothers, Cleve Mitchell, Ruben Mitchell and James Mitchell. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Berry C. Smith; her daughter and son-in-law, Emma Jean and Philip Johnson of Bainbridge, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Sharon Mitchell of Bainbridge, GA; her sister, Allie B. Hatcher of Ozark, AL; four grandchildren, Vance Smith of Albany, GA and Whitney Johnson of Bainbridge, GA, Hali Mitchell of Bainbridge, GA and Thomas Mitchell of Bainbridge, GA.
