Jimmy Brooks

December 12, 1937 — May 17, 2020

Jimmy Edward Brooks, 82, of Coolidge, GA, formerly of Bainbridge, GA passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside funeral service will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Lee Coulliette officiating.  Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com . Jimmy Edward Brooks was born December 12, 1937 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Tom and Mary Comerford Brooks. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1953. Jimmy earned an associate degree in forestry from Bainbridge College. He proudly served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Jimmy believed in working hard and he had the resume to show for it.  He worked at International Paper for many years, as well as a Grounds Superintendent for Bainbridge College, a Terminal Manager for McKenzie Truck Lines, and was the owner/operator of Economy Landscaping. Jimmy had two qualities that fit very well together; he loved people and he was a talker.  His unconditional love for everyone meant that he was always the first one in line to help and the last one to ask questions.  He was the definition of the old saying "give the shirt off your back".  Jimmy's favorite past times included riding horses, going on trail rides, gardening, fishing, and hunting. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Tina Brooks; his children, Kim Brooks, Tammy Brooks, and Kerry Jones, with her husband, Stevie all of Bainbridge, Reba Huffman, and her husband, Todd, of Thomasville; his sister, Lois Barwick of Thomasville; his grandchildren, Amber & Kevin, Cass, Chelsie, Clara, Crystal & Mark, and Kris & Carrie; his great-grandchildren, Chase, Daniel, Hunter, Liam, Madison, Marshall, and Richelle; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death his siblings, Louise Taylor, Mary Alice Rackowski, and Tommy Brooks.
